GOVERNOR JACK
Progress starts here
Democratic socialist Senator Bella’s goal for education reform is to help highly impoverished school districts and for schools to influence students to be able to develop critical thinking skills, perform well in debates, the arts, and be acute with the scientific method. These actions, according to Senator Bella, that occur now will support a student’s future. Governor Jack’s education stance builds on the opinion that high school is not the issue, but rather student loans are becoming more expensive at an exponential rate. Governor Jack also believes that student loan taxes will push people away from attending college or give s them debt. Both representatives are from the democratic party. However, their views for reforming education conflict with one another.
Senator Bella’s claim for repairing the education system is to pair the wealthy and the poor districts together in order to give both socioeconomic classes the same educational opportunities. By accounting for more than just test scores, Bella wants there to be more than one way to show success in a student’s academic career. In order to do that, she says that someone (it is unspecified who exactly) will monitor all the student’s athletic and artistic programs, on top of watching over students are or are not succeeding in their Honors courses. Senator Bella continues that they will also have to find schools where other students will have different access based on school programs in order to support deeper educational understanding and to see if a school is understaffed, which, apparently, this quote unquote “moderator person” would fix by employing more staff.
When reading these texts, it seems as if this idea will be able to work out in the long run. However, I am confused with why doesn't give specific details on what political moves she will take to push this new legislation. Will she mainly fund certain states and/or districts that are currently underfunded, or will someone be enforcing students to stay guided on one path and don't transition to another that might harm their academic growth? Without a structured plan, you have no base in which to solve the source of the problem. In a perfect world those actions might actually help the school system. However, we don't live in that type of world, so having a course of action will assist in actually making an idea come to life.
